"Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!" Psalm 95:1
The music program at First United Methodist Church exists primarily to assist the congregation in the worship of God. Through worship we become more aware of God and His holiness. As our minds are filled with the truth of God's Word, we are awed by His majesty and power. Through worship we gain a vision of God which results in our obedience to Him. Finally, when we worship God, we grow in Christ and are inspired to serve God each day in every opportunity that comes our way. We believe that music brings us into a sense of the presence of God. We believe that music gives expression to our spiritual experiences. For many of us, singing is as close to worship as breathing is to life itself.
Our Sunday 11 a.m. worship services are filled with singing, including great hymns of our faith as well as contemporary choruses. We call this a blended style of worship.
Spiritual education is also a focus of our music program. Often it is through music that we learn about the nature and character of God, the saving grace of Jesus, and the empowering direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
We invite you to join our ministry through music!
Handbells: Our Handbells Choir meets every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
Chancel Choir: Our Chancel Choir lifts the spirits of all who hear it, and the Choir's weekly performances truly enhance the congregation's worship experience. Approximately 25 committed, eager, talented, hard-working, fun-loving singers participate in this music ministry.
